Principal's Message

DIS Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!  After a very busy summer we are excited to get students back into the building and get about the business of teaching and learning!

You will notice a few changes at DIS this year.  There is new LED lighting throughout most of our building.  We have updated security in our front by tinting the front glass and creating a vestibule area for visitors to enter at door 31.  All classroom doors have been upgraded with new locks and swipe card entrance.  Student and staff safety continues to be a top priority in our schools.

We are excited to welcome new faces to DIS!  Justin Price will be teaching PLTW classes as Candice Davis has moved to an Assistant Principal position at RHS.  Casey Hoag will also be joining the DIS staff as a reading teacher.  Our new Assistant Principal between DIS and RHS is Brandi Ray.  We also welcome Carlin Williams as our school nurse. We are sad to say goodbye to Nurse Jordan Lawson as she pursues other opportunities.

Last school year was an amazing school year at DIS.  We had great success from our all of our athletic teams.  Our students received statewide recognition in the arts for theater, forensics, band, and choir.  We continued our tradition of the 8th grade dance and class picnics.  Most importantly, our students did extremely well on the end of the year tests.

DIS is an amazing place and the thing that makes DIS so special is our faculty and staff.  Our teachers have high expectations of all students and challenge them to rise to meet these expectations.  You will find our teachers to be very student centered and willing to go the extra mile for students.

I look forward to working with each of you in the upcoming year and am excited to see you soon!
