Principal's Message

DIS Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!  After a very busy summer we are excited to get students back into the building and get about the business of teaching and learning!

We are excited to welcome several new people to DIS!  Candance Davis will be teaching PLTW classes as Brian Dye has moved to a position at central office.  Amber Ratcliffe will be returning to DIS to teach English.  Shannon Ferguson will also be joining the DIS staff as an English teacher.  Our new Assistant Principal between DIS and RHS is Bonnie Reedy.  We welcome Nikki Bowers as a new math teacher.  Also, we are excited to welcome our new School Resource Officer, Brad Bolen.  We are sad to say goodbye to Rebeca Nagle and Alyson Bryson as they pursue other careers and to Haley Smith and Brian Dye who have moved to other positions in the division.

Last school year was an amazing school year at DIS.  We brought back football and started our first DIS baseball team.  We saw the return of field trips for our students.  Students got to experience the very first DIS only pep rally.  Our students received statewide recognition in the arts for theater, forensics, band, and choir.  We continued our tradition of Fall Festival and the 8th grade dance.  Most importantly, our students did extremely well on the end of the year tests.

DIS is an amazing place and the thing that makes DIS so special is our faculty and staff.  Our teachers have high expectations of all students and challenge them to rise to meet these expectations.  You will find our teachers to be very student centered and willing to go the extra mile for students.

I look forward to working with each of you in the upcoming year and am excited to see you soon!
