Principal's Message

DIS Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!  After a very busy summer, we are excited to get students back into the building and get about the business of teaching and learning!

You will notice a few changes at DIS this year.  LED lighting was completed throughout our entire building and in all classrooms. New security cameras and outside speakers have been added for the safety of our students.  A new information sign for information and a new gating system were installed at parent drop-off.  Student and staff safety continues to be a top priority in our schools.

We are excited to welcome new faces to DIS!  Candace Claytor will be joining us as a special education teacher.  Stacy Tuel is now also our math teacher after filling in for most of the year last year.  We are sad to say goodbye to Sarah Pullman as she pursues other opportunities.

Last school year was an amazing year at DIS.  We had great success from all of our athletic teams.  Our students received statewide recognition in the arts for theater, forensics, band, and choir.  We also continued our tradition of the 8th-grade dance.  Most importantly, our students did extremely well on the end-of-year tests, producing some of the top scores in the state.

DIS is an amazing place, and the thing that makes DIS so special is our faculty and staff.  Our teachers have high expectations of all students and challenge them to rise to meet these expectations.  You will find our teachers to be very student-centered and willing to go the extra mile for students.

I look forward to working with each of you in the upcoming year and am excited to see you soon!
